What is the name of David Rudolf’s wife?
David Rudolf’s wife is Sonya Pfeiffer, a reporter who covered Kathleen’s death and Michael’s trial. Sonya was working for ABC11/WTVD at the time and met Rudolf, who was Michael’s attorney. They finally developed a bond, which led to their marriage. Sonya enrolled in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for a Juris Doctor degree in 2004, the year after Michael was convicted of Kathleen’s murder, and graduated in 2007. In the same year, Rudolf and Sonya were married.
Sonya began her legal career as a paralegal at the Mecklenburg County Public Defender’s Office, where she worked in the Misdemeanor and Felony Drug Units. She also worked with Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge, and Rice, LLP’s business litigation department (presently known as Womble Bond Dickinson after merging with Bond Dickinson LLP).
Sonya began working with her husband at Rudolf Widenhouse, a legal company in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2011. Zayne is the name of the couple’s daughter. Sonya is currently based in Toronto. She joined Brauti Thorning LLP in 2021 after receiving a work permit to practise law in the city. Criminal law and high-stakes/high-conflict civil litigation are her areas of competence.
Despite this, she continues to work in North Carolina. She and Rudolf just bought an art gallery called the Elder Gallery of Contemporary Art, and she now acts as its artistic director.
Before Covid, we celebrated our anniversary (May 5) every year with a Cinco de Mayo street party at our house. We planned to do it again this year after a 2 year hiatus, but I had Covid on May 5, so we had to postpone it for two weeks. Getting ready for the party now. #15years pic.twitter.com/B86P4eC5ei

Is David Rudolf Still Married to Sonya Pfeiffer?
Yes, David Rudolf and Sonya Pfeiffer are still married. The couple and their daughter relocated from North Carolina to Toronto in 2021. “Our objective has always been to raise a child with a feeling of global citizenship, someone who helps others make the world a better place.” We wanted her to feel not only a sense of personal duty, but also a sense of social obligation. “We thought, ‘Let’s see what other options are out there,’ because that message wasn’t being represented in the United States,” Sonya told Toronto Life about their move to the city in an interview given in October 2021.
Sonya claims that her and Rudolf’s long-term plans remain undetermined. “I don’t believe we [Rudolf and Sonya] have figured out our long-term intentions yet.” We’re taking things one day at a time. “I’m still practising law in North Carolina,” the attorney told Toronto Life. “We’ll be here as long as I can keep working there [North Carolina] and find a meaningful job here in Toronto,” Sonya added. They currently reside in a rented home in Hoggs Hollow, a Toronto area. Rudolf and Sonya worked together at Brauti Thorning LLP, and Rudolf Widenhouse, now known as Pfeiffer Rudolf, appears to be still associated with them.
Rudolf and Sonya are the co-hosts of the ‘Abuse of Power‘ podcast, which examines how people are victimized by law enforcement and the legal system. The duo also speaks at events about crime and the law together on a regular basis.
