How Did Tracy Mondabough Die?

Michelle Lee Boat, 59, had been married to Nick Boat, 59, for more than two decades. Nicholas Boat left Michelle Boat in 2020 for Tracy Mondabough, his girlfriend.

Tracy recounted a frightening occurrence that occurred between her and Michelle Boat in March 2020. Tracy was dating Nick Boat at the time of the incident, who had recently divorced his wife, Michelle Boat. Tracy had been followed by Michelle Boat from Pella to Ottumwa, a distance of 40 miles. When Tracy observed Michelle following her, she called the cops. She was so terrified that she requested that the cops meet her at a gas station.

On the 18th of May 2020, police in Pella, Iowa, investigated a complaint from an apartment complex. The caller reported that two females were arguing and that a probable domestic conflict was taking place. The cops arrived on the scene. They discovered a woman collapsed in a vehicle when they arrived. Tracy Mondabough, 46, was the victim. Her seat belt was fastened, and she was slumped against the vehicle seat.

Tracy was in critical condition when the police arrived, but it was too late. Tracy Mondabough was no longer alive. Her body was punctured, leading detectives to assume she was stabbed to death. Her chest had been stabbed, and her hands had many lacerations.

Tracy’s car was parked at her apartment complex, as if she had just arrived home, and she didn’t even have time to unbuckle her seatbelt before being stabbed to death.

Who Killed Tracy Mondabough?

Michelle Boat was named as a suspect in Tracy Mondabough’s murder almost immediately. Tracy had reported an event in March 2020 in which Michelle had been following her. Witnesses said the killer was driving a grey Cadillac, which was identical to Michelle’s car.

The police went to Michelle’s house shortly after uncovering Tracy’s body. The dark Cadillac, with apparent blood on the exterior, was discovered when police investigated Michelle’s residence. The engine seemed warm to the touch as well. Michelle was just getting out of the shower and had a single item of clothing in her washing machine when they arrived. In the upper toilet tank, there was also a pair of rubber gloves. The latex gloves appeared to be stained with blood. The use of rubber gloves suggests that the murder was planned ahead of time and not carried out in a fit of rage.

The murder weapon, however, was never found. Tracy’s blood was discovered on and inside Michelle’s car. In May of 2020, Michelle Boat was revealed to be the person responsible for Tracy Mondabough’s death.

Michelle Boat arrived at Tracy’s house on the 18th of May 2020. She claimed she approached her car to express her displeasure at seeing her husband and to beg her to kindly return her husband. Tracy allegedly began striking Michelle and even called her a crazy bitch, according to Michelle. She claimed she had snapped and that she had not gone to Tracy’s house with the intent of murdering her. She claimed she went back to her car to fetch a knife and stabbed her to death.

She claimed she was provoked to do so because she was suffering excruciating mental suffering as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. After seeing her husband kissing a younger woman, she said she snapped.

Where Is Michelle Boat Now
Jury found her guilty of first-degree murder. She was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Michelle’s defence claimed that she went insane after learning that her husband had abandoned her during the Covid-19 outbreak. After only 45 minutes of deliberation, the jury unanimously found her guilty of first-degree murder. The conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. She was also charged with breaking a no-contact order.

“I wanted to tell her how badly I wanted him back, and I wanted her to leave him,” the 59-year-old, who is on trial in Iowa’s Marion County District Court for Mondabough’s murder, said in court on Monday.

Boat claimed that when she opened Mondabough’s truck door, the 46-year-old assaulted her and called her a “mad bitch.” Boat said she “just snapped” and repeatedly stabbed Mondabough while still wearing her seatbelt during the confrontation on May 18, 2020.

“I just snapped and grabbed the knife,” says the narrator. “I stabbed her and then dropped the knife,” Boat explained. Boat said in court that she wasn’t “chasing” Mondabough on May 18 and that she first started following her after spotting her husband’s car at a laundry.

“I parked there at the laundromat and waited to see if it was him doing the washing because I wanted to see him,” Boat explained, adding that when she realised it was Mondabough, she decided to follow her “to find out where my husband was living.”

According to Boat, she then accompanied Mondabough from a local Burger King drive-through to her husband’s employment at Vermeer Corporation, where the new couple had a quick meal in the car.

She is presently incarcerated at Mitchellville, Iowa’s Iowa Correctional Institution for Women.
