The Thing About Pam Episode 5 Recap

The Thing About Pam Episode 5 ‘She’s Not Who You Think She Is’ Recap

The fifth episode, aptly named ‘She’s Not Who You Think She Is,’ wastes little time in getting right to the point, indicating that Pam may have been involved in a few weird deaths over the years. It begins with the Hupp family in Florida in 2003, and how she intends to move to Michigan as soon as possible (with a large sum of money) after the death of an older woman she knew, Mrs. Fitzgerald.

Not only does it then fast forward to discuss the public’s reaction to her as a result of an embarrassing ‘Dateline’ story, but it also raises serious doubts about her mother’s death in 2013. Producer Cathy Singer initiates this line of inquiry for updated coverage in the NBC series, but while receiving no direct responses from anyone, Pam’s reticence to speak up remains the one constant component.

With that said, thanks to her evidence during Betsy’s daughters’ fight against her for the insurance money, people get a glimpse into who the flipper on disability truly is. Pam repeats her claims of memory problems caused by a “traumatic brain injury,” never directly answers questions, and even admits she lies when others bother her.

This last remark astounds everyone, but Pam still prevails in the civil case because there is no evidence that Betsy left the $150,000 in her friend’s name for her daughters. The fact that she runs out of court and continues to refuse to speak to media despite her comments inside doesn’t sit well with anyone, either, leading to her earning even more prominence (not the good kind).

Pam’s next-door neighbor/friend turns against her as a result of a mix of old and new factors. In addition, a future encounter prompts one of Betsy’s daughters to go to California in search of a new beginning.

When it comes to Pam’s relationship with District Attorney Leah Askey, things get a little stale, especially when prosecutor Mike Wood decides to run against her for election by making this case the centrepiece of his campaign. He even had a conversation with Russ Faria’s defence attorney, Joel Schwartz, who is now exonerated, in order to gather all of the information he can on Pam in order to make the best of the situation for all sides. Tina also performs an important role by simply shredding the confirmation document for Leah’s previous “destruction of evidence” order.

The Thing About Pam Episode 5 Ending Explained

Pam’s husband and son try to persuade her to move because of the antagonism they’re encountering in their tiny community in episode 5. Pam, however, emphasises that she will not relocate while “taking care” of her ill neighbour Minnie, since when there are hurdles or people in the way, you don’t run; you “get rid of it.”

The image of her shooting at a tree emblazoned with a large red “X” during this declaration adds to the ominousness, implying that she intends to escalate the situation. Pam’s attempts to hurt the people she identified, on the other hand, will be different.

After all, she has already demonstrated that she has the ability to influence others in a variety of ways, whether through a letter sent in someone else’s name or by completely exploiting her notoriety to destroy people’s reputations. Pam sends Betsy’s daughter Mariah Day a harsh message at her workplace with his name scrawled at the bottom after noticing her mother’s lingering fondness for Russ.

She truly breaks the young girl’s heart until she recognises the handwriting a few moments later. Pam also attends one of Leah Askey’s public appearances — as part of her re-election campaign – and makes herself known, ostensibly to deter the general public from approaching the DA.
