Remedy will develop and publish the game worldwide, except in select Asian markets, where Tencent will localize and publish the game.

The development of the game is currently in the proof of concept stage. By the end of the first year of live operation, its development budget will be in the range of a typical AAA game budget. This development will be co-financed by Remedy and Tencent. In addition, Tencent will localize the game for selected Asian markets and cover the associated localization costs.

Remedy and Tencent will be responsible for their own publishing and game operation costs in their respective regions, sharing a portion of the revenue with the other party after incurring development costs.

The lowering of the outlook comes with lower game royalties than expected in 2022 as well as the company’s decision to take additional time to develop its game project codenamed Vanguard to ensure it is completed to high quality standards . Remedy game. Due to these changes, some agreed development fees will be postponed to subsequent fiscal years, which will have a direct impact on Remedy’s revenue and operating results in 2022. These changes will not affect the total amount of development fees generated by Game Codenames. Vanguard, only their time.

“Remedy is currently working on five world-class game titles, and our ability to develop these games is stronger than ever. With our transition to a multi-project operating model, we have learned how to optimize our game projects. It is better to put in the early development phase longer than before. The advantage of this is that the size of the development team and thus operating costs remain low, and it allows teams to design, build and test key elements of the game. Before the project progresses to a stage of development where a larger team is required.By doing so, we are supporting both high quality as well as cost-efficient game development.

We have decided to prolong the game called Vanguard in the current proof-of-concept phase and postpone the significant expansion of the development team until the year 2023. This will defer earnings from 2022 to 2023, which means we expect our 2022 revenue to be higher. To remain at last year’s level and our operating results have declined significantly compared to the year 2021,” says Tero Vartala, CEO, Remedy Entertainment.

As part of the agreement, Remedy has also licensed Tencent’s worldwide rights to develop and publish a mobile version of the game. Tencent will cover the cost of developing and publishing the mobile version. The parties have agreed on a separate revenue sharing plan for the mobile version.
