Republican Representative Liz Cheney sat down with CNN’s Kasie Hunt, and talked about her shared view of her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, and the current Republican Party. Earlier in the day, Dick Cheney appeared in a campaign video for his daughter in which he lambasted former President Donald Trump.
Dick Cheney said, “In our nation’s 246-year history, there has never been a greater threat to our republic than a man greater than Donald Trump.” “He tried to keep himself in power by using lies and violence in the last election, when voters rejected him. He is a coward. A real man does not lie to his supporters. ,
Cheney expressed concern and went to the former vice president for the current direction the GOP is going.
Cheney said, “I talk to him every day about a lot of things, and of course, you know, his anxiety — look, like I am now, what else is he really going through at this very moment.”
Cheney’s remarks aired just a day after Trump-backed election deniers won GOP primaries across the country.
“That’s the only real sadness we both feel about what’s happening to our party,” Cheney said, “and how can there be a real disappointment that so many Republicans will refuse to stand up to and tell the truth.” And this is a scary moment for the country.”
And as he has done in the past, Cheney remains up for a possible presidency in 2024.
“Does Dick Cheney Want Liz Cheney to Run for President in 2024?” Hunt asked. “Dick Cheney is a big Liz Cheney supporter,” Cheney replied. Hunt later said, “I would like the record to show that you did No Say that Dick Cheney isn’t asking you to run for president in 2024.”
