House of the Dragons Paddy Considered Set to Own the Iron Throne

The Iron Throne is returning to our TV screens soon game of Thrones prequel show dragon house is approaching its air date.

But while many actors would have expected to take a selfie or two on the Iron Throne during the shoot, actor Paddy Considine, who plays King Viserys Targaryen, was very protective of the famous throne.

Eve Best, who played Princess Raines Valerian on the show, said, “Paddy was very possessive.” Rennes is a character who was previously passed on as ruler of Westeros in favor of his cousin Viserys.

Several other cast members confirmed that Considine was so committed to his role as ruler of Westeros that he kept his classmates away from the throne between shots.

“It was like it was hers,” said Steve Toussaint, who plays Lord Corliss Valerian, Raines’ husband. “At one point I told him – because my character also has a throne, but it’s nowhere near like that – I said, ‘If I can sit you can sit on top of me–‘ and he was like, ‘Nah .’”

Even Olivia Cooke, whose character Lady Alicent becomes Hightower Queen, was not allowed to sit on the Iron Throne early.

“As soon as I saw the Iron Throne in rehearsal, I went straight to it and patted my ass on it. But on set, Paddy was pretty territorial, so I used to do a quick job when he wasn’t looking. [sit]Cook said, explaining that Considine was literally scolding her classmates. “It was just an aura, just a feeling that you were like, ‘Okay, maybe don’t go upstairs.’”

An Iron Throne pop-up was set up at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which eventually allowed some artists, such as Best, to sit on the Iron Throne, but some were again thwarted by Considine. Toussaint was one of them.

“He moved me again! I was shooting it and then he left with that big grin of his and I was like, ‘Okay, I’ll leave,’” Toussaint said.
