The Seahawks quarterback fight continues during this year’s training camp. Coach Pete Carroll has yet to name an official starter for the 2022 season.
Carroll will be naming a new starting quarterback for the first time since Russell Wilson joined the team in 2012. Wilson was traded to the Broncos this year in the off-season.
Previously, Seattle Coach Said Seahawks Veteran Geno Smith was leading the fight between Drew LockWhich was accumulated in the Wilson business from Denver.
Carroll’s leader remains the same after being asked at training camp this week for any quarterback battle updates.
“Jeno remains on top, he’s leading, he’s leading for all the obvious reasons, and he’s holding it up and doing a really good job,” Carroll said, via Pro Football Talk, “Both guys are communicating beautifully, they’re learning well, we don’t have a problem with what we’re trying to do. There’s no problem here where we get ‘Oh, we’re with this guy or that guy. Can’t do this or that, it’s not like that. He is very talented arm-wise, and has the ability to throw the ball down the ground. So let’s start the game.”

But, Carroll has not officially decided to make Smith a starter. Locke still has a chance as long as he completes certain tasks, as coached below.
“Just be there,” said Carroll. “He just needs to be out there and show us how he’s going to make his decisions when big opportunities come up. He has already done a lot of plays. He’s got great throws, he runs really well, he’s elusive, he’s got a really quick trigger, he’s got the ability to release the football show, he’s got a lot of talent now. So we just need delegate. We need a twist, we need to look at more situations to really find a reason to see the difference between people. There just isn’t enough stuff.”
Smith has been with Seattle for the past two seasons, and saw a three-game opening role when Wilson was out with a finger injury. He began his first two seasons in his NFL career (2013, ’14) with the Jets.
