A film with Gyllenhaal’s involvement was rumored since November last year, but has now been officially announced by Amazon.
“I’m thrilled to put my own spin on the beloved road house heritage. The original film starred Patrick Swayze as a bouncer hired to work at a rough Missouri bar, but ends up in conflict with the crime boss who runs the city. The Jake Gyllenhaal remake casts him as a former UFC fighter who has been hired at the Florida Keys roadhouse, and will likely end up in a similar position.
The original film was not a huge commercial success, but became a cult classic.
