American actress Anne Heche has been seriously injured after her car crashed into a home in Los Angeles and burst into flames.

According to NBCLA, the driver was speeding on a residential street—and the Blue Mini Cooper drove 30 feet into a two-story home in March Vista.

Local media reports suggest that the 53-year-old suffered severe burns.

Authorities believe the car likely hit a curb and was 2 feet off the ground when it crashed into the front of the property.

Footage obtained by TMZ showed Heche driving the same vehicle that was later pictured severely damaged at the scene.

The accident caused a major fire within the property, and it took 59 firefighters 65 minutes to “reach, confine and completely extinguish the stubborn flames within the heavily damaged structure.”

According to the LA Fire Department, a woman was found inside the car and taken to the hospital. While the building is now “uninhabited”, no damage was done to the landlord.

A neighbor told NBCLA: “There was a lot of smoke in the house. I think they used a crane to move the car to get the driver out. It was crazy.”

Heche is best known for his roles in movies including Psycho, Donnie Brasco and Cedar Rapids – and he previously dated Ellen DeGeneres between 1997 and 2000.
