His victory came despite starting the Tour with a stomach bug and dealing with at least five bike changes during the final stage on Sunday, according to cycling news publications Velonews and Cycling Weekly. Team Jumbo-Visma rider Marianne Vos, who won two stages and led most of the Tour, eventually took the green jersey to win the overall points classification, or sprinters competition, according to the final results.
Wolring of Team SD Works won the polka dot jersey for the Queen of the Mountains competition, while Shireen van Anaroij of Trek-Segafredo was the best among young riders to bag the white jersey for 2022.
Canyon-SRAM Racing was the top team overall, beating FDJ-Suez-Futuroscope and Trek-Segafredo.
The race covered a distance of 1,029 kilometers (639 mi) in eastern France, ending atop La Super Planche des Bells Filles.
This was the first women’s Tour de France since 1989.
