American actor Anne Heche was reportedly taken to hospital in critical condition after a collision that left her vehicle “engulfed in flames”.

The incident happened on Friday morning near Heche’s home in the Mar Vista area of ​​Los Angeles.

The actor, 53, is a former partner of US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, and is known for films including Donnie Brasco, Cedar Rapids and Psycho.

Images and video footage obtained by US media outlet TMZ showed Heshe driving a blue Mini Cooper, which was later severely damaged at the scene.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), the vehicle hit a two-story house and caught fire.

“It took 65 minutes for firefighters to reach, contain and completely extinguish the flames within the heavily damaged structure,” said a LAFD report.
